U-10 Fall 2007 ODSL Game #1 vs. ARL Impact Blue
The Reston Crushers put on a good team effort through midway in the first period. A defensive lapse lead to a 3 on 1 situation that the goalkeeper could not defend. The Crushers fought back to even the match following a great open field move past the goalie. The period ended in a 1-1 tie. Immediately after the opening whistle of the second period, Arlington implemented a beautiful set-piece offense drive to score. The Crushers applied a smothering defensive effort that kept the score close until mid-way through the second period. A perfectly executed corner kick curled into the back of the net to lift Arlington to a 3-1 lead. The Crushers continued to fight back and with 3 minutes left in the game drove past the defenders and brought the Crushers to within 1 goal of a tie. However, the heat of the day and the great effort of the game proved too much for the Crushers.
U-10 Fall 2007 ODSL Game #2 vs. ALEX Arsenal
The Reston Crushers played their best game of the season. The game began with only seven players, however, within the first few minutes the remainder of the team was available. The Crushers struck first with a great open field move and shot . The Crushers featured excellent team defense. However, following a superb effort by the Crushers' goalie, the Arsenal slipped an equalizing goal into the net at the close of the first half. Early in the second half the Arsenal took the lead with a penalty kick from about 12 feet. The Crushers fought back with three unanswered goals by three different players to take the victory.
U-10 Fall 2007 ODSL Game #3 vs. MCLN Legend Gold
On a beautiful breezy day, the played their first home game of the season, and the last home game at Lake Fairfax. The Crushers came out strong and scored in the first 10 minutes. The Legend Gold came back to score an equalizer within a few minutes. Through a nearly impenetrable team defense the Crushers were able to create several counter-attack opportunities. In the last ten minutes of the half the Crushers were able to find the back of the net twice for a 3-1 halftime score. The solid, smothering defensive effort dominated most of the second half. Midway through the second half a beautiful cross pass and left-footed strike added yet another goal. The final goal was lofted over an attacking Legend goal-keeper to bring the score to the 5-1 final.
U-10 Fall 2007 ODSL Game #4 vs. ARL Impact Blue
The second meeting of the Crushers and the Impact Blue began as a defensive struggle. Both teams exhibited a strong defense and the active offense throughout the first half. A penalty kick towards the end of the first half lead to the Crushers first point of the game. The half ended with a 1-0 score. The second half started with a reinvigorated offensive attack by the Crushers. Early in the second half, the Crushers forwards teamed up to drop another shot into the net. The Crushers turned up the heat in spent the rest of the game on the attack. The offensive push lead to an additional two goals towards the end of the game to bring the final score to four.
U-10 Fall 2007 ODSL Game #5 vs. GRFL 97 Falcons
The Crushers put together another good showing to win their fourth in a row. Both teams worked very hard in the opening of the game. The Crushers were pushed very hard in the opening 15 minutes by an organized and determined Great Falls team. The Crusher set up a strong defensive effort aided be an excellent game by the Crushers goalie. After taking down a penalty kick, the Crusher attacked with renewed energy. This change in momentum lead to an opening that the Crushers capitalized to score their first goal on a clean break-away move by the forward. The Crushers continued on the attack scoring another goal prior to the half-time break. The Crushers began the second half with another great defensive effort. The Crushers final goal of the game came after a well-timed pass to the wing and following shot on goal. In the last ten minutes of the game, Great Falls increased the pressure and ultimately slipped a shot past the goalie. The Falcons kept up the pressure through the end of the game, never giving up. The Falcons are a good team with a lot of heart, but our strong defense with opportunistic offensive breaks prevailed today.
